Miami’s swanky Brickell neighborhood is getting an update in the form of a new addition to the much-anticipated Brickell CityCentre project.
Plans for One Brickell CityCentre are underway. The mixed-use 80-story high-rise building is to feature a hotel, condominiums, a lounge and a restaurant, as well as retail and office space. Costs for the project currently surpass $1 billion.
The tower will replace the current Northern Trust Bank headquarters located at 700 Brickell Ave, The bank will relocate to 600 Brickell Ave and serve as an anchor building in the Brickell CityCentre.
Swire Properties Inc, the company behind the project acquired the space back in July with a winning bid of just over $64 million. Swire enlisted the help of world-renowned architectural firm, Architechtonica, for One Brickell CityCentre’s design.
In a statement published by the Miami Herald, Swire’s president, Stephen L. Owens, expressed the company’s vision for the project:
“Our goal is to develop a structure that will be artful in its mix of uses and will advance Brickell Avenue’s stature as Miami’s premier destination.”
Owens added that the tower’s location is of “great strategic importance for the development of Brickell CityCentre because it provides the project with a critical front door onto Miami’s most significant boulevard.’’
The first phase of Brickell CityCentre is currently under construction. Thus far, the site will include two residential towers, apartments, offices, a luxury shopping center, a wellness center, and EAST Miami, courtesy of Swire Hotels.
